  • The researcher focused on highlighting the strategic position of Syria for Russia, specifically within Russian foreign policy. In recent years, it has been observed that Russian foreign policy has gradually and noticeably advanced toward the Middle East, particularly in Syria. Syria served as a pivotal point in reshaping Russia's policy toward the Arab region. Through this approach, Russian policy sought to transform its political, military, and even economic posture toward the region. Accordingly, we attempted to emphasize the theoretical and practical frameworks that explain Russian foreign policy based on power and identity. Furthermore, we identified Russia's key anchor points in dealing with the Syrian crisis and the objectives behind its continuous support for the Syrian regime. Finally, we analyzed the factors and obstacles that caused Russia to face several challenges in this region due to the Western presence and the noticeable competition in international politics.
