Mohammed Hussain received his B.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Duhok, Iraq, in 2002, his M.Sc. in Soil Mechanics from the University of Mosul, Iraq, in 2007, and his Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Exeter, UK, in 2016. Dr. Hussain is currently a faculty member in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Duhok. His Ph.D. research focuses on the numerical simulation and management of saltwater intrusion at both hypothetical and real-world scales, considering the saturated-unsaturated nature of flow systems. He is particularly interested in how physical models, machine learning, and evolutionary computation can be coupled to assess the efficiency of geo-environmental processes and to better understand the underlying physics. Looking to the future, Dr. Hussain's ambition is to use data-driven modeling and advanced computational tools to predict soil failures and underground hazards under changing climate conditions. Also, he aims to develop eco-friendly soil stabilization techniques to build more sustainable regional infrastructure.
